Former Asante Kotoko and Ghana midfielder, Yussif Chibsah, has called for a quota system in the selection of players to the senior national team.
Chibsah believes an organised structure of a mix of players plying their trades abroad and those in the Ghana Premier League will produce a strong Black Stars team.

Following the appointment of Portuguese gaffer Carlos Queiroz as the new coach of Ghana, there has been a raging debate over what constitutes his team.
While many have questioned the quality produced by the domestic league, Chibsah, a product of the GPL, insists there must be a quota for players who ply their trades home.
“We cannot continue to ignore the Ghana Premier League players. There must be a quota system to ensure they are represented in the Black Stars,” he told Citi Tv.

“It’s about giving them opportunities to prove themselves. If you don’t give them the platform, how do we assess them at the highest level? We need to create that pathway to improve them and our local league,” he added.
Meanwhile, Queiroz watched the Black Galaxies, a selection of players from the Ghana Premier League, engage Heart of Lions and Aduana FC in friendlies.
The former Manchester United assistant manager will be naming his squad for May’s friendlies early next month before the World Cup in June.
