CAF releases Black Starlets match schedule for U-17 AFCON

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the match schedule for the upcoming Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Morocco, confirming dates and kickoff times for Ghana’s Group D fixtures.

The Black Starlets, who were drawn months ago alongside Algeria, Senegal, and South Africa, will now kick off their campaign on May 14 against Algeria at 19:00 GMT. Their second group match comes on May 17 against Senegal at 16:00 GMT, before wrapping up the group stage on May 20 against South Africa, also at 19:00 GMT.

The tournament runs from May 13 to June 2. Crucially, the eight quarter-finalists will automatically qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, along with the two best third-placed teams, meaning Africa will send ten representatives to the global tournament.

The Starlets return to the biennial competition after a nine-year absence, having last featured in 2017 when they finished as runners-up to Mali.

For the Black Starlets, the path to World Cup qualification is now set. The focus turns to Morocco.
