Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named Premier League Player of the 2025/26 season. Fernandes was also named Football Writers’ Association men’s Player of the Year this month.

The Portugal international recently equalled a Premier League record for 20 assists alongside Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Manchester City icon Kevin de Bruyne. He made the record after setting up Bryan Mbuemo’s goal against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Fernandes also scored eight goals in 37 games to help United secure third place and qualification for the Champions League. The 31-year-old has created more chances (132) than any other player in the Premier League this season. He has 43 more chances against second-placed Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai.

Bruno Fernandes has become the first United player to win the award since defender Nemanja Vidic in 2011. The award is decided from public votes combined with votes from a panel of football experts. The United captain won after beating contenders like Arsenal trio David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice, and Manchester City duo Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo. Brentford’s Igor Thiago, and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White were also shortlisted for the award.
