Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie nominated for WSL Save of the season

Super Falcons and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been nominated for the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) Save of the Season award. Nnadozie was shortlisted following her impressive save in Brighton’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool last November.

The Nigeria international brilliantly tipped Fuka Nagano’s long-range strike onto the crossbar in the epic encounter. This stunning save also earned Nnadozie the WSL Save of the Month award for November 2025.

The 24-year-old has been one of Brighton’s standout performers this season, since joining the club from French side Paris FC last year. Her commanding displays and sharp reflexes between the sticks has made her one of the top contenders for the golden glove. She has made six clean sheets from 18 WSL appearances, one behind the three joint leaders: Manchester City’s Ayaka Yamashita, Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, and Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Nnadozie also helped Brighton extend their unbeaten run after a 1-1 draw to deny Arsenal the WSL title. The Super Falcons goalkeeper made crucial saves to deny Arsenal’s attack and hand the trophy to Manchester City on Wednesday. She has one more game to play in the league, at home to Tottenham on May 16 for a chance to draw level and potentially win the golden glove.

Other goalkeepers shortlisted for the Save of the Season award include Ayaka Yamashita (Manchester City), goalkeeper Janina Leitzig (Leicester City) , duo Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe (Arsenal), and Elene Lete (London City Lionesses).
