Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been double-nominated for Celtic’s Goal of the Month award, following two impressive performances for the Scottish Premiership champions in April. Celtic have shortlisted six goals for the club’s Goal of the Month, with Iheanacho’s brilliant strikes against Dundee and St Mirren making the list.
Against Dundee, Iheanacho played as a substitute and fired a powerful finish into the net on April 5. The former Manchester City player also came off the bench to make an elegant finish inside the box in extra time against St Mirren on April 19. Celtic went on to win the game 6-2 to maintain continue their campaign for the Scottish title.
Iheanacho, who previously missed four matches against Rangers due to injuries, should be available to be named in the matchday squad against the Glasgow rivals on Sunday.
The former U-17 World Cup champion’s goal was nominated alongside goals by Saoirse Noonan, Anthony Ralston, Kieran Tierney, and Daizen Maeda.
Celtic remain in a tight title race against Heart of Midlothian, with both sides level on 73 points and only separated by goal difference. Meanwhile, Iheanacho’s contract with Celtic will end in June this year, with an option to extend his contract until next year.
