BREAKING: Lamine Yamal to miss rest of club season with hamstring injury

Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal will miss the rest of the club football season. But he should be available for the FIFA men’s 2026 World Cup scheduled for this summer. Barcelona announced on Thursday on Thursday that Yamal would not feature again for the club for the rest of the season due to a left hamstring injury he suffered in the team’s La Liga win over Celta Vigo on Wednesday.

Tests carried out have confirmed that the 18-year-old has a hamstring injury in his left leg (biceps femoris muscle).

Barcelona wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “The tests carried out have confirmed that first-team player Lamine Yamal has a hamstring injury in his left leg (biceps femoris muscle). The player will follow a conservative treatment plan. Lamine Yamal will miss the remainder of the season, and he is expected to be available for the World Cup.”

Yamal scored a penalty late in the first half. However, he fell to the ground not long after kicking the ball and walked to the locker room after he received some treatment on the field. Despite the nature of his injury, he should be available for Spain as the European champions kick off their World Cup campaign on June 15 against debutants Cape Verde.

Meanwhile, Yamal has been a key figure for Barcelona, registering 22 goals and added 15 assists across 36 La Liga and Champions League games this season. Barcelona is cruising to the La Liga title despite quarterfinal exit from Champions League last week.
