Manchester United will reportedly have a busy summer. Many reports suggest that there will be as many as five key signings for Manchester United ahead of the new season. Currently third on the Premier League table, United are poised to return to Champions League next season.
With a key player like Casemiro confirmed to leave Old Trafford this summer, United are under pressure to strengthen the squad with high-quality signings that can compete for domestic and European honors. Here are 7 players that could become potential signings for Manchester United.
Sandro Tonali
Sandro Tonali has reportedly emerged as a top target for United for the summer transfer window. The Italian midfielder is believed to possess all the qualities United lack in the team, including his physicality and intensity. In addition, he is a versatile player, making progressive passes, pushing forward with powerful runs, and delivering powerful strikes and dangerous set-pieces.
However, the Newcastle United player could cost up to £70m in the transfer market. But his all-round impressive qualities make him a perfect fit for Michael Carrick’s team.
Goncalo Ramos
TEAMtalk reported that United are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Goncalo Ramos this summer. “Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos is ready to leave the European champions this summer, and TEAMtalk can reveal that contact has already been made with several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle United,” the report stated.
Ramos is reportedly struggling for playing time at Parc des Princes and may welcome the idea of leaving the club to play in the Premier League. Top clubs like Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the 24 year old.
The Portuguese signed a contract with PSG which will run until 2028. He has scored 11 goals and two assists in 38 appearances for the Parisians across all competitions this season. Ramos also made 12 starts this season.
Aurelien Tchouameni
Reports from Spain suggest that United are interested in signing Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni this summer. With Casemiro leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season, Tchouameni can be the perfect replacement to tighten up defensively and better control games in the midfield. He is also a physical player, with technical abilities that will suit English football. United are reportedly keen to secure his signature, and are willing to splash a higher wage than €240,000-a-week he earns at Real Madrid.
However, the 26-year-old defensive midfielder is said to be comfortable at Madrid and wants to compete for trophies for Los Blancos. Real Madrid are reportedly also not ready to let him go, and are looking to offer him a new contract. His current contract will expire in 2028.
Yan Diomande
There is a reported emerging battle between United and Liverpool for RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande. According to SportsBoom, the two North West rivals are preparing to go head to head for the 19-year-old this summer. Diomande, whose valuation is reportedly around £80 million, made Bundesliga history after he scored a hat trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in 18 minutes. He is one of the youngest players to achieve such as feat in the league’s history.
Diomande has scored 10 goals and six assists in 26 appearances. His potential signing at Manchester United will be seen as complementary, since the team already have established forwards like Benjamin Sesko Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. However, the Ivory Coast star can bring versatility in United’s attack, as he is widely known for stretching defences. In addition, he is expected to have a great chemistry with Sesko, who was his former Leipzig teammate.
Denzel Dumfries
Denzel Dumfries has been linked to a move to Old Trafford since Erik Ten Hag era. But the Red Devils never managed to take the Dutchman from Inter Milan. According to LInterista, United are finally ready to make a definite move for the right-back. However, United will have to fight Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool to secure the 29-year-old’s signature.
“Manchester United, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all looking for a player with his characteristics, and given the €25 million cap, they wouldn’t have any problem acquiring him, especially considering it would be easy to convince him given the contracts they’re signing across the Channel,” the report said.
Meanwhile, Inter are also keen to retain their star defender and are trying to renew his contract. But nothing has been agreed yet, giving United the opportunity to make a swoop for the Dutch player. With Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui already dominating the right back, United could use a more attacking option at that position. Dumfries is believed to have the ability to unlock the Red Devils’ defense and free up pressure on Bruno Fernandes.
Elliot Anderson
Amderson is regarded as one of the Premier League’s top midfielders in recent seasons. His impressive performances at Nothingham Forest have attracted interests from top teams, including United. The 23-year-old can partner with Kobbie Mainoo in the midfield, sitting deeper to allow Mainoo push forward.
Known for his superb ball-winning and high-energy pressing, Anderson ranks high as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League. His playing qualities are what United are looking for. But the Red Devils will have to battle Newcastle United and Manchester City for his signature.
Carlos Baleba
Baleba has been heavily linked as one of the signings for Manchester United since the 2025 summer transfer window. United reportedly made a massive £100m move for the Brighton midfielder during the final weeks of the transfer window but failed.
Baleba has suffered a drop in form in recent outings, but United are reportedly still interested in signing him. However, his fee will reportedly be lower than £100m given his current form. But the Cameroon star would be a great asset to United, with his impressive ball-winning and physical attributes.
