Azeez opened scoring inside five minutes of the game before making it a double in the early minutes of the second half to seal victory for the Super Eagles. His standout performance was a testament of why he was named in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season. Head coach Eric Chelle has also praised the versatile winger, comparing his playing style to Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise.

With victory secured, the Super Eagles, who are winners of all three previous editions of the Unity Cup, will await the winner between Jamaica and India in the second semi-final scheduled to hold on Wednesday May 27. Nigeria, who did not qualify for the 2026 World Cup, will hope to defend their Unity Cup title on Saturday, May 30 at Charlton’s The Valley Stadium.
