Real Madrid new coach to be named before World Cup

Real Madrid will announce a new head coach before the 2026 World Cup, renowned journalist Romano Fabrizio reports. The La Liga giants have been under the leadership of the club’s former youth coach Alvero Arbeloa.

Arbeloa was appointed in as a replacement for Xabi Alonso who left the role in January. However, recent reports suggest the club’s management remain unsatisfied with the Spanish manager’s performance with the team and are looking to find a solution elsewhere.

On Friday, Romano shared a report from Cadena SER on Facebook, which said: “𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: Real Madrid will announce their new coach BEFORE the World Cup. Once it is finalized, there will be NO DELAY, Cadena SER report.”

Meanwhile,  journalist Manu Carreño shared fresh insight on the club’s search for a new coach during a broadcast of El Larguero on Cadena SER.

He said: “There’s no news, but what I can tell you is that, as of right now, Real Madrid has not contacted any coach to say ‘we want this one.’”

Carreño added that former Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho is one of the popular potential candidates being considered for the job.

“There are many names being evaluated, but at this moment none has been decided. José Mourinho is one of them,” Carreño said.

“In that group of names that have been mentioned everywhere, including here, Mourinho is there. I don’t know if he has more or fewer chances than others. But as of today, that conversation hasn’t even been opened to the point of saying ‘we’ve already contacted this coach.’ Not yet. He probably won’t come, it would surprise me,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Mourinho has reportedly dismissed the idea of returning to Santiago Barnebeu, stating that he was happy at Benfica where he currently coaches.
