Andoni Iraola: Bournemouth manager reportedly wants Chelsea job

Bournemouth boss, Andoni Iraola is keen to become the next Chelsea manager following Liam Rosenior’s sacking, renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano reports.  Iraola is reportedly open to the opportunity when his contract at Bournemouth ends at the end of this season. The Spanish manager  confirmed he will be departing the Cherries in June.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano  revealed that Iraola would be ‘happy’ to continue in the Premier League following his Bournemouth exit.

“Iraola, to my understanding, would be more than happy to continue in the Premier League.,” Romano said. “Iraola would be keen on the possibility of becoming the new Chelsea manager. But at the moment from Chelsea are still in early stages. Chelsea want to take their time and decide who is the ideal candidate.”

“Still nothing advanced, still nothing done with Andoni Iraola.”

Chelsea sacked Rosenior earlier this week following their 3-0 defeat to Brighton. Under-21s head coach Callum McFarlane was appointed to replace him until the end of the campaign. Meanwhile, Iraola emerged as one of the top candidates for the Chelsea job, following his impressive three seasons at Bournemouth.

The Cherries sit seventh in the Premier League, one point above Chelsea. Iraola’s team has remained unbeaten since the beginning of January, going unbeaten in their last 14 Premier League games. In the previous two seasons, Iraola led Bournemouth to 12th and 9th in the Premier League and is now battling for European qualification.

Iraola reportedly turned down several offers to extend his contract at Bournemouth. Former RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose has already been announced to replace him next season.
