Mourinho will have two of his new signings in the match against Fiorentina. Carlos Espí is already training at Valdebebas under José Mourinho: he amazed Khedira and the coaching staff with several headers into the top corner.
Real Madrid plays its first proper preseason friendly this Saturday. Mourinho still doesn’t have all his players available, as some are still on vacation. However, the squad list for the match against Fiorentina has been officially announced.
The list includes some notable additions, such as Carlos Espí , Real Madrid’s new signing. Dumfries, the other new addition already training under Mourinho, is also included . However, Rüdiger, who had passed his medical, is not on the list, nor are Mastantuono or Huijsen.
Two signings who could make their debut
Carlos Espí was announced as Real Madrid’s newest signing this past Thursday , and on Friday he trained for the first time under Mourinho. That was all it took to convince the Portuguese manager to include him in the squad. He could even make his debut against Fiorentina on Saturday.
Dumfries has been training for a few more days , although he didn’t participate in the friendly matches against Leganés and Alcorcón. Therefore, he could make his Real Madrid debut against Fiorentina. A special match for two of the five signings announced by the club so far.
Three very notable absences
Mastantuono and Huijsen had been with Real Madrid since the first day of preseason . They had played in the matches at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium so far. However, they will not travel to Austria , nor will Asensio, although he is injured.
According to Arantxa Rodríguez, the Argentine player is staying in Madrid while they look for a way to move on. Dean, meanwhile, has a minor muscle strain in his right leg. It’s nothing serious, but they didn’t want to take any risks.
Rüdiger will also be absent, although he had joined training on the same day as Endrick . While the Brazilian striker may get some playing time against Fiorentina, the same cannot be said for the German center-back. He has just arrived and they prefer that he get more match fitness before playing his first minutes.
Extensive presence of the quarry
It’s common for these preseason friendlies to feature a strong youth academy presence. This time, we can see several of the players who won the Youth League last season. This includes Jacobo, Alexis Ciria, and Javi Navarro, the hero with his saves.
But it will be a good opportunity to see Castilla players like Lamini, Joan Martínez, Fortea, Cestero, and Daniel Yáñez . All of them have been considered for the first team for some time now, and Mourinho may continue to give them opportunities if they earn them.
