FIFA has conducted an official draw of the U-20 Women’s World Cup in host city Lodz, Poland. Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, have been drawn into Group F which also include former champions Spain and China PR, and debutants New Caledonia.

Ghana’s Black Princesses have also been placed in a tough group consisting of former champions France, the Republic of Korea, and another tournament debutants Ecuador.
The tournament, which will be hosted across four Polish cities, including Łódź, Katowice, Sosnowiec and Bielsko-Biała, will bring together 24 teams that qualified from their continents to compete for the title from September 5 to 27, 2026.
The Falconets, two-time finalists in the history of the competition, secured their ticket a 3–2 aggregate victory over Malawi. They won their first leg 2-0 at home before falling to a 2-1 defeat away in Lilongwe.
Ghana secured their eighth successive qualification to the tournament following a 3-2 aggregate victory over Uganda. The Black Princesses made a comeback 2-1 win at home before securing a 1-1 draw away to confirm their qualification.
In Group F, Nigeria will face challenges from Spain, one of the tournament’s favorites and China PR, who boast of their disciplined structure and international experience.
In Group C, Ghana will be hoping to make a strong challenge against powerhouses like France and three-time champions Korea DPR. Tanzania, who are African debutants will face powerhouses like Brazil, England, and Canada in Group B. Benin will face hosts Poland, Mexico, and Argentina in Group A.
This is also Poland’s first ever major global women’s tournament which promises some exciting repeat fixtures. France previously defeated Korea Republic 1-0 in the group stage of Costa Rica 2022. Brazil beat Canada 2-0 at Costa Rica 2024, while Korea DPR trounced Costa Rica 9-0. Japan also defeated three-time world champions USA at both the 2018 and 2022 tournaments.
