Shakira teams up with Burna Boy to release World Cup song

Colombian superstar Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeat star Burna Boy made headlines after announcing an upcoming World Cup song. Shakira shared a minute-long teaser clip on Thursday on social media, with the caption:  “From Maracaná Stadium, here is “Dai Dai,” the FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026.” She also mentioned Burna Boy as a feature in the song.

In the video, Shakira appears on the field of Maracaná Stadium with dancers and sings in English: ” “Here in this place / You belong.”

A male voice can be heard in the background, harmonizing her: “What broke you once / Made you strong.”

According to the multiple Grammy winner, the World Cup song will be officially released on May 14.

Shakira is no stranger to World Cups songs, with hits like “Waka Waka” and “La La La” the official World Cup anthems in 2010 and 2014 respectively. Meanwhile, Coca Cola has released an official 2026 World Cup anthem. The anthem, a reimagination of Van Halen’s “Jump”, featuring Colombian singer J Balvin, drummer Travis Barker, pop/R&B singer Amber Mark and guitarist Steve Vai.

The 2026 FIFA men’s World Cup will kick off on June 11 as Mexico face South Africa in the opening game at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The final will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA.
