Will Dembele miss UCL final? Luis Enrique provides injury update on PSG talisman

Ousmane Dembele was forced off early on the final day of the Ligue 1 season, a major injury blow that could affect Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League final showdown with Arsenal. Dembele appeared to suffer a muscle injury during a 2-1 derby defeat against Paris FC on Sunday.

Early reports from Ligue 1+ suggest the French man  has suffered a simple muscle strain. He will still undergo an assessment by club medical staff before an official diagnosis is given.

The French talisman, who limped off straight to the locker room, was replaced by Portugal international Goncalo Ramos mid-way through the first half. However, PSG head coach Luis Enrique attempted to downplay Dembele’s worrying injury situation during the post-match conference.

“I think it’s just fatigue,” Luis Enrique told the media. “What we’re saying today is just speculation, but I don’t think it’s anything serious, and there are still two weeks left.”

Dembele is regarded as a leading figure for PSG as he Parisian side prepare to defend their Champions League title on May 30. He is also considered a crucial figure for Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the 2026 World Cup. Any long-term injury could jeopardise their preparations for the biggest events in Europe and world football respectively.

Meanwhile, PSG  finished six points clear of second-placed Lens, despite the loss to Paris FC. The Parisians now have almost two weeks to prepare for the Champions League final. Many PSG supporters are hoping the 29-year-old will recover in time to lead the club to a second historic European triumph.
