Morroco hosted 2025 CAF Awards

The CAF Awards ceremony remains African football’s most important awards ceremony, where the continent’s top performers are celebrated in an atmosphere of glitz, glamour and prestige.

Morocco hosted the last CAF awards on November 19, 2025, which saw the country dominate several major categories. Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi won the African men’s Player of the Year after helping Paris Saint-Germain win the UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 title. He is also the first Moroccan player to win the award since Mustapha Hadji in 1998, edging out Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen.

Yassine Bounou won Goalkeeper of the Year, Othmane Maamma was named Young Player of the Year and Ghizlane Chebbak emerged as Women’s Player of the Year after her performances at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria also retained a strong presence at the awards, with Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie winning a second consecutive Goalkeeper of the Year. The Super Falcons were also named National Team of the Year after winning a historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.

Nigeria has hosted the CAF awards four times, with the last edition in Lagos in 2015.
