An online petition calling for Kylian Mbappe to leave Real Madrid has gained massive traction, as fans show their dissatisfaction with the player during a turbulent season.
The petition, labelled “Mbappe out,” reportedly surpassed 12 million signatures within 24 hours of circulating online. While the authenticity of all signatories remains unclear, the scale of engagement points to a serious reputational issue for both player and club.
Timing fuels backlash
The surge in fan anger coincides with a poorly timed off-field trip. Mbappe, currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, travelled to Sardinia during his recovery period, a move approved internally but poorly received externally.
Images of the forward on a yacht surfaced while Madrid were playing, fueling perceptions of detachment at a critical stage of the season.

Results drive sentiment
Fan reaction is not occurring in isolation. Madrid are on track to finish the campaign without major silverware, trailing FC Barcelona in La Liga and already eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.
In that context, scrutiny has intensified on high-value assets, with Mbappe, despite leading the scoring charts, now positioned as a focal point for criticism.
Narrative turning against Mbappe
Beyond results, the petition shows deeper concerns around perception. Questions over his commitment, on-field work rate, and relationship with teammates, particularly Vinicius Junior, are shaping the current narrative.
Spanish media coverage has also been divided, but increasingly critical, with some analysts framing Mbappe as misaligned with the team’s collective structure.
