Ghana’s Black Satellites fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso in their second Group B match at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire, on Thursday.
After suffering defeat to Nigeria in their opening fixture, the Black Satellites produced a spirited display and showed great resilience to recover from a goal down, with Joseph Badu finding the equaliser to secure a hard-earned point at the Lycee Scientifique Stadium.
The result leaves Ghana third in Group B with one point from two matches, setting up a decisive final group encounter against Togo.
Victory in that fixture will be crucial as the Black Satellites look to finish the tournament on a positive note and build momentum ahead of future competitions.
Although the WAFU B U-20 Championship serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana have already secured their place at the continental showpiece as hosts.
Nevertheless, the competition remains an important part of the team’s preparations, providing valuable high-level match experience, strengthening squad cohesion and giving the technical team another opportunity to assess the players before Ghana hosts Africa’s best young talents next year.
