Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has dismissed speculation linking captain Granit Xhaka with a move to Chelsea, insisting the experienced midfielder will remain at the club.
The Blues are reportedly exploring midfield reinforcements this summer, but Sunderland have made it clear they have no intention of selling their influential skipper.
Sunderland close door on transfer
Speaking after Sunderland’s 4-2 pre-season defeat to Liverpool in Nashville, Le Bris ruled out the possibility of Xhaka leaving before the transfer window closes.

The Frenchman said the former Arsenal midfielder remains fully committed to the newly promoted Premier League club.
“He has been really clear about his future. He loves Sunderland, he wants to stay in Sunderland. He wants to make the future of Sunderland.”
Le Bris also praised Xhaka’s influence within the squad.
“He is a good captain. Great leader.”
Chelsea eye alternative target
With Sunderland unwilling to negotiate for Xhaka, Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a renewed move for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott.
The London club previously had a reported £64 million bid rejected, with Bournemouth determined to keep the 22-year-old.
However, reports suggest Chelsea remain interested in the England youth international and are considering submitting an improved offer before the transfer window closes.
