Several Super Falcons players have reportedly fallen victim to theft at the team’s hotel in Morocco after discovering cash missing from their rooms ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigerian squad is currently staying at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca as it completes preparations for the continental tournament, with the alleged incident raising concerns within the camp.
Players report missing cash
According to ANS, the players discovered money missing from their wallets after returning to their rooms.
Among those reportedly affected are Esther Okoronkwo, who allegedly lost $700, captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who had $200 missing, Osinachi Ohale, who reportedly lost $100, Joy Omewa, whose missing cash was put at $120, and Halimatu Ayinde, who allegedly lost $100.
The combined amount reported stolen from the five players is $1,220.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged theft remain unclear, and it is not known when the money went missing.
NFF yet to comment
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has not issued an official statement on the incident or confirmed whether an investigation has been launched.
The Super Falcons are in Morocco for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where they will defend the title they won in the previous edition.
Head coach Justine Madugu has assembled a full squad in Casablanca before the team moves to Rabat for its Group C campaign.
Nigeria will begin its title defence against Malawi before facing Zambia and Egypt in the remaining group-stage matches.
The reported theft comes at a crucial stage of the team’s preparations as the nine-time African champions aim to begin their title defence.
